Reading the glove box owners mannual for a 1949 Ford car. The warrenty for the entire car was either 90 days or 4000 thousand miles. My Dad had a new one. V-8 (239 CID), overdrive, and heater with blower all were extra. He also had a new 1949 JD B, combine with motor and all the implements to farm. Also a new son. Was that 10 cents hog years?

Don't know. I just remember a guy who ran the elevator here for a few years telling that when he and his brother were kids,they both had pneumonia. The doctor was making house calls on them at the time. Said his dad told them that he wished they'd hurry up and get better. Said everytime the doctor came out it cost him a fat hog and he was running out of hogs. So,relatively speaking,I guess healthcare's never been "cheap".
I bought a brand new 1949 Ford convertible back then. It was the worst car that Ford ever made, i think. I couldn't keep the doors closed, had to tie them shut-almost lost my girl-friend on a sharp turn! I hit a pot-hole, and the tie rod bent down almost to the pavement, making the wheels splay out to the side! The convertible top went bad in less than a year. the clutch slipped on a steep hill. The bad steering wore out the tires in 3 months! The paint lost its shine in a year, and had to have it repainted, at my cost!
I traded it for a 1948 MG Roadster, right hand drive, and that was a great little fun car!

I recall when the warranty was extended from 12,000 to 25,000miles back in the 70s '... I still demand an American Vehicle , And treat My Japanese built Tractor Like it was Solely Responsible for the Bataan Death March , AND PEARL HARBOR,, Just can't Help it ,, My Dad raised us that way, even though he was not a victim of those antrocities formerly listed ,, HE went thru and survived HE-DOUBLE L fighting for island after island across the S.Pacific in Amphibious Tanks , And witnessed B-29s land on Metal grid runways that had only been laid a couple days before .. Island hoppers bent to MAKE a World free of TYRANNY . I am Glad He did not live to see last Years Election Results ,, It Woulda KILLED him ! ... ANd I miss him, especially during Christmas holidays ...
