Ford 8N VS Ferguson TO30 VS Ford 600

I"m curious if the TO30 is more like an 8N or a 600. Mainly curious about physical size.

Next I"d like to know if the TO30 had live lift and/or live pto? I know the 8Ns had neither. 600s had live lift and I think those with the 5 speed had live pto.

Thanks

all the fords from NAA up had live hyds.

for the 4 speeds, there was not a live pto.. it was trans pto.. only the 5 speeds with dual clutch on the 00/01 series had live pto ( ok.. the 01 series could get you independent pto with the SOS tranny ).

There wewre add on pinion clutches to give you essentially live pto for the 8n and naa. though i've nver heard of on on a 00/01 series.

I guess with a lathe, torch and welder anything is possible though..

Don't know much about the Fergies, but the 600 is slightly taller/longer/heavier than the 8N, but not by much. All Fords from '53 on have live hydraulics, and the 5-speed models from '55 on COULD have live PTO. For example, a 650 would have the 5-speed and non-live PTO, but a 660 would have the 5-speed with live PTO. 4-speed Fords never had live PTO, except for those that were equipped with the rare (and not too robust) aftermarket kit (which wasn't a true live pto). I've yet to see one of those in working condition.

Chris;

We had a TE20 and a TO30 and then a 641 Ford. The Fergies did not have live pto or live lift.
The hyd. pump ran off the pto. Both tractors had the cat.1 3pth as did the 641. We had a loader on the To30. In doing field work the old TE would give the 641 a good run for the money. The to30 and the 8N would be very close in hp and wt. The 8N had a fast reverse and also had a choice of draft or position control on the 3 pt.
I am partial to Fergusons.

Thanks everyone. I've seen tractordata before but they lack width/height data on the TO30 as well as no data on the live lift.

Anyway if it lacks live lift I'm not interested. I see one for sale on Craig's list that looks like a great deal but I'm familiar with the 600/601 and the 8N not the TO30. The 8N is ok size. The 601 is too big. Lastly I'd have to have live lift.

601 too big? Gotta have live lift?

I see an OLIVER man in the making! Oliver Super 55 and 550 are the size of an 8N (even share some of the steering parts), but nearly twice as powerful, independent PTO, live everything. Even come with diesel engine, if you want.

They're what an N wants to be when it grows up.
