doing some tree work today and busted off the valve stem on the rear tire. dont know if the tractor has tubes or not on the rear - this happened after dark. any ideas on what a tractor tire repair service will charge me to fix it on my place? cant take it off myself
 
It has tubes. Depending on where you broke it most of those valves are 2 piece and maybe you can just buy the outer piece and screw it in. If the tube needs to be replaced you need to tell them when you call so they bring one and if it has fluid he'll have to bring some to replace what was lost.
I had one fixed recently and it didn't require a tube but did require a few gallons of fluid. Cost was 240 dollars to repair a thorn puncture. I wouldn't have done for that even though I grumbled about the price. It really takes a grown man who knows what he's doing and has the correct equipment to repair one of those.

Thanks Flurette, funny, I have had this tractor for years and never looked at the tire size or if they were tubless. busted that stem off almost flush with the rim - which is a bit rusty because it has fluid. lost a bit of that too. your post gives me an idea of what i'm in for - tough times you know!
 
I just priced swapping some WD tires around. If I remember right $40 fluid out, $40 R & R tire, $40 fluid back in. Definitely not cheap. Greg
 
Had a rim rust through on my 19 a few years ago, so removed fluid, bought one new spin out rim and two new tires and tubes. Glad it happened then instead of now. Still cost around 1300 dollars.
 
About 300 here in Kentucky about a year ago when a fencing nail went through the 18.4 38 tire on my 7000 Allis. That included a new tube. The tire company was about 15 miles from the farm, so service charge was a pretty good chunk of labor costs. Tube was probably 60 or 70. Not cheap up front, but if it's a good tire, not very expensive in the long run.
