Is scrap a bringin anything?

Ive got a few tons of old cast and regular I need out of my cow pasture.Im near KC,Mo,and I didnt know if it was worth haulin off right now.

I'd like to know too, got up a trailer load the other day, I guess I'll take it in no matter what the price though.

Year and a half ago I made a killing off a couple loads of scrap, and a few old cars...don't expect that now though.

I took a small load about three weeks ago. I remember the steel was bringing around $3 per 100lb, WAY down from last year. I actually made more off of one old, locked up 40HP electric motor,(nearly $1 something a lb), and a few old solid aluminium radiator cores ($2 something a lb.) than I did off of the rest of the scrap steel. If you have to drive any significant distance make sure you've got a big load or you might not even pay for your gas.

Here in NY, as of a week ago Short was $180 a Ton [2000 lbs ]Cars $145 /Havent check on Copper and the other stuff yet !

NC Wayne;where did you sell the motors? here in Florida they only bring .35 and I get 50000 to 80000 lb per year so it would pay to truck them.

3 weeks ago I took in some scrap metal, $120/ton for short steel. Shearing, cast iron, tin, etc were all around $110/ton.

Would you mind sharing the adress /phone number for the $1.00 a pound scrap motor buyer. We are in Georgia but would be glad to truck at that price. Thank you

the cash for clunkers program has flooded the sceap metal markets , prices will be down for a while Im thinking, kind of makes me sick to see rigs nicer than what I am running that have been destroyed for no good purpose except to help people buy new wheels that have more cash than I do . I do not like to help out those who are better off than I am welfare for the rich

Sold some batteries yesterday. Got three cents a pound. Steel isn't doing much better. Hauled off 400 pounds last month got 13.00 dollars for it

Sold a car body today for $50/ton, central NE. They said price has been back down for two months. At least it is out of my yard.

Just went to the truck and pulled the ticket to be 100% sure. I was dead on on the steel price, but I was wrong on the other. I should have said $1 per 100lb, or .10 lb for the electric motor, I knew that but forgot the 'per 100' when I typed it in. For the aluminium I was waaaay off. I guess it seemed I got alot more per pound on the aluminium than I did because I didn't think I had that much weight wise. It was actually .36 lb for pure stuff and .26 lb for the irony stuff. Sorry for the confusion.
