IA Gary, bill and others thanks for the ideas. As of right now we have been to: The Machine Shed; great food average service, Harris pizza; best pizza Ive ever had in my life good service, Whiteys ice cream; good stuff, and in an hour we are going on a date to Johnnys.
As for fun stuff we did the combine tour Friday after my interviews, it was fun but not enough for me! As part of my interviews I got to eat and tour the world headquarters and that was a neat place. Today we went to Lock 15 and as we were talking with the visitor center guys a boat from across the river asked to come through. So of course we waited and watched him come through the lock, the bridge turned and it was a really cool thing to see. Then after that we headed over to the arsenal museum and that was a really neat place. If you like guns youll like that place. The history is what I liked most about it.
Just a little while ago we went down for the lighting of the commons and what a neat time that was. All the families out there, the free cider and hot chocolate and the fireworks.
My one complaint: what idiot didnt think that when they were naming roads to not have the numbers going four directions. Man Im really good with navigating but not here. I was on 16th and then bam Im on 14th, never turned or anything. I now know the its because the city limits but geez I was lost for a while.

Okay enough for now but thanks a bunch for all the advice. We really have enjoyed the area.

Oh yeah,
Guess we forgot to tell you the Quad City streets are pretty confusing - don't even know if Garmin/Tom Tom etc can figure them out!
Glad you enjoyed this part of the country and good luck on your interview.

Jim

My sis has lived in the Quad Cities since 1971, so I've been there a few times over the years, and I haven't figured out the streets yet.

Went to a minor league baseball game there once and the game was rained out. Tried getting back to my sis's house the tried and true way I was familiar with but the street was flooded so I had to find another route. Boy was it interesting navigating those oddball streets in pouring rain. This was before cell phones so I couldn't just call sis to have her help me out. Finally made it after stopping at a couple of convenience stores to ask for directions.Jim
