what's doing in the south, way south?

There's lots of posts and pics of harvest on here lately as one would expect but how about in the far south? Any YTers in the southern hemisphere getting ground worked up for planting? A shot of spring would be a nice change.

We'll start plating in TX during the last week of February. We start harvesting at our most southern locations during the last week of July. It will be earlier if they dont get any rain. Most of the time the moisture is around 12% The grain buyers wont buy it greater than 15%.

Thats funny since I'm harvesting in ND this week. The grainary is turning down anything greater than 30%. Quite a difference.

You do not need to go that far south to see planting.

While the sugarcane crop should have been planted in Aug I did see one grower doing some planting in mid Oct. The problem is the rain we had in Aug and Sept. While they can harvest in the rain it is real hard for them to plant in the rain. The harvest is going full steam ahead right now and they should finish up somewhere about Jan 1.

All the strawberry growers have finished planting (mid Oct) and will start picking berries in mid to late Jan if the weather treats them right.

There are other crops grown around here but this is the two main soil crops in my area.

Southern Australia [Victoria State] just finished baleing, planted wheat because oats was too expensive, turns out I also had a big crop of selfsown rye.The rye seems to appear each 4 years after a fair rain, it doubled my bale total. always commence the crop on ANZAC day [April 25th] Autumn. [fall]
