Case 1000 dozer

I'm thinking of buying a Case 1000 dozer--need some opinions and facts--what's it weigh? what's the horse power? This machine has new pins and bushings, and runs and operates good, has a 8 1/2 foot blade, what's it worth? What should I look for --I heard they were noted for cracking the head ??? Thanks for any info

LJ, There is a specific forum for loaders, dozers, backhoes etc. You should go to the original forum listing where you first sign on to select the forums wanted and scroll down, you'll find it there. mEl

From someone who has dealt with dozers for 36 yrs, if you really want a dozer to use, stay away from anything that says "Case" on the side- they're miserable to operate, too flimsy to last, and parts? If you just want it to play, if it's in real good shape, and reeeel cheeeep, maybe- but if it breaks, it ain't worth the price to fix it.
I helped a buddy haul off a 1000 about 17 years ago for scrap, had a final out, sat for 5 yrs before he got sick of looking at it
I'd much rather have an old cable Cat or even an old TD-6 than a Case

LJ,
The fact that it has an 8 1/2 ft blade says
it's a bull blade ( tilt/crown)because the
angle dozer is 10 ft. Book says it weighs
16,450 pounds without ripper , HP is 100
gross- 87 net. They will crack a head if run
hot or over fueled severly, normally not a
problem.
I have owned a 1000c loader since 1967 and
a 1000 dozer since 1970 ,they have got to be
the toughest tractors in the territory .When
I was in the dirt biz back in the 60's thru
early 80's all the other local contractors
traded tractors at least once ,mine kept
running long after they were out of biz.
Anyone that says case is not easy to run or
repair must have a bad case of crainal/rectal
inversion as there are none that are easier
to run. Being in the repair biz for the last
nearly 30 years ,I have worked on many other
brands and all are much more difficult to
work on.
Engine parts are becoming hard to find ,but
there are ways around that.
Send me an email with a phone # and I'll
call you.
