Stuck my little Satoh out in the woods skidding logs- had it burried up to the axle. Too deep in to get the truck out- so i used the "pole vault method" one of ya"ll pointed out on "You Tube". chained a log across the side of the rear wheel and vualted my way out- worked like a charm!

That's interesting! I hadn't heard of doing that, but it makes sense.
I'll have to look it up on "You Tube".

Did you just put it on one wheel or both?

Ronnie

A very dangerous maneuver. Came upon a person doing this and the tractor was upside down on top of him.lee

I've done this a couple times with a stuck crawler and a dozer. Laid a pole behind both tracks and chained the tracks to it and backed it out. Never done it with a wheel machine though.

definitly not for the inexperienced, not a safe thing to do. must use extreme care and keep your foot on clutch incase things go south.

Amd so fast you can't hardly get the clutch in. Had it not been for the hitch on the chisel plow, I would have been a goner. LOng time ago.

The owners manual will not tell you that because they have to cover their backsides. It is a safe thing to do if you use common sense, but their is not a lot of that left in this country anymore. I have done it more then once and never had anything go wrong. JMO Bob

Forty years ago this was not at all an unusual thing to do. Back then neighbors were often much further away and it could also be a long hike back to the farm. people had to be resourceful and also have enough sense to BACK UP over the log. Kinda like knowing not to use an AC shaver in the bath tub.

ive never done it your way but ive chained fence posts across the tire on my jd b befor kinda like taking a 12 inch tire and making it a 4 foot tire lol gets the wheel outta the hole

uncles used to hook a chain to the bottom of one of the rear wheels and the other end to a tree. in low gear ease the clutch out and as the tire turns the chain pulls the tractor forward out of the hole. Could be dangerous too. Putting a roll bar on my tractor as it will be in the woods some.

Hey Dave, I would like to come by and get some pictures of the John Deere D. I have a kid interested in buying it. I came by Wednesday but you weren't home. Just bought a Case 930 and a Ford 8N. Got the Allis Chalmers G finished.I've missed placed your phone number.Mitch Van Horn from Brady.
