As of right now I'm listed as 20% disables by the V.A. probably should be more but will have to fight more to get there.
So how many of you are also D.A.V.s?? Speak up and let the world know.
Also if you have not done so and have ringing of the ears file for pension for it since at least 80% of VETS have hearing loss from being in

Had a guy about 25 years ago playing basketball when he was supposed to be fixing trucks. Was showing off and dropped on a knee. Ended up getting a surgery and then got out of the army with 30%. About 10 years later I ran across a guy that knew him, he had gained over 100 pounds and was listed at 60% because he had ankle problems also. Occupying a good gov job that he got based on the 30% and couldn't get fired from without an act of congress. Have since seen plenty examples of the same.
There are 2 kids in the community that I work with big chunks of an arm missing and one with a leg that stops above the knee that are still soldiering and don't plan on quiting. Keep that in mind when you want to fight to raise that 20% or claim tinnitus.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the service of every vet, just find some a little hard to stomach.

Just read my post again.......... Didn't sound so good. Didn't mean to offend anyone that doesn't deserve it. If someone has a servise related disability they deserve to be compensated. Can only hope that the ones claiming came about it honest. Rich, I meant nothing to you personally even though I see now that it sounded like it.

I'm at 40% due to a service connected back injury and ringing in the ears (tinnitus).

Contacted Guilliam Berre Syndrome while in training. Spent one
year in hosp and 2 years 100 % retirement. Receive 30% now.
This disease is similar to Polio.

Dave, these men deserve every penny they can get for the sacrafices they made for our country. Including ringing in the ears.

Would love to BUT with out my records i am SCREWED . As i can not GET my records as they are STILL SEALED classified TOP SECRET and there for i CAN NOT get then as we have tryed for the past 25-30 years . We have tryed every way we can come up with thru My one uncle a retired Brig. Gen. thru lawyers the VA and each time they run into the same stone wall . Last try was two months ago . YEa i would love to get that one and maybe a few more . The only thing that they will admit to is YEA you were in from july or 66 thru june 68 Yea you were in country Nam from May 67-68 and yea you were wounded . BUT WITH OUT YOUR RECORDS we can not do anything for you.

On this I sort of have to agree to disagree with you. I look at it this way since the president servers 4 years and get a life long pension then it should also go that way for any one who is/was in the military since he is the commander in chief. And yes there are a lot of guys out there that should get $$ and do not and a lot that should get a lot more but some times it is harder then pulling hens teeth to get any where with the V.,A.

I had the same problem. Ringing in my Ears. The VA give me a 10% disabilty for it as it had been noted on physical exam report completed while I was on active duty. Proof enough if you can show a record of the problem while you were on active duty.

Dave I have to agree with you and tell you there is no reason for you to feel like you have offended someone for speaking your mind.

I have a medical discharge from the Air Force. Was kicked out before my tour was up. But I never did contact the V.A. for compensation. I really do not feel I am disable; just could not physically do the job the Air Force wanted me to do anymore. Still can not but I live with it. I think they have me classed about 20 or 30%.

I know people that have tried; and some even get; a check from the V.A. for nothing more than saying they are depressed when taken their discharge physical.

Now for someone like my son that is 60% and his disability affects every day of his life that is a different story.

old don't give up took me 6or7 tries it matters who you have in your corner also i joined dav 1 ft smith ar finally succeeded. had to take the spoken word test scored o in left ear 30 percent in right ear al

I got the 10% for hearing problems I'm just having to fight for some other stuff that they say is not in my records plus the over pay that I owe them because they would not listen to me when I told them about my getting SSD

They also can't prove you don't have it. Get a good DAV, American Legion, or VFW Rep to back you up.

Tell them it is constant in both ears and has been that way since you were in the service. Do NOT waver from that. Do not tell them one ear is affected more than the other, do not tell them it comes and goes, do not tell them it's worse at a particular time of day. It also helps if you can describe certain noisy incidents in the military that could have brought it on.

When I was interviewed, my AL rep coached me ahead of time. I was also able to describe working around jet aircraft with no hearing protection available, exposure to gunfire with no hearing protection available, etc. It also helped in my case that I was able to produce records of consulting with a civilian otolaryngolygist years before I involved the VA.

Persistence pays off.

Kinda funny you mentioned hearing loss. They had a base drill here the other day. I'd been wondering what the hell the big gray box with the speakers was inside my BAS, no one new. Turns out it's part of the base alert system, kind of like the tornado sirens with the loudspeaker function. Only this thing is inside, in a 15x30 room. So this thing goes off for the drill and darn near makes our ears bleed. It's not nearly as loud after I cut a few wires....
Wonder what moron though of mounting that thing inside a building instead of out side on a pole...

Were you stationed around Tuy Hoa ?
Not sure of units numbers but I almost volunteered for door gunner till I found out the life expectancy of one. the $100.00 a flight didn't have the appeal any more.no trees,or rocks to get behind up there either. I left there in Aug of 67

I salute you and thank all that has given some.

Tractor Vet Try a senator that seems to work. USAF seemed to have lost my pay records even though I hand carried them to our CBPO from SEA so I got our senators phone number and started to dial it using their office phone and all of a sudden they appeared. My clearance was Top Secret w/SSI and last I found out everything was declassified from VN I would definitely get in touch with your senator that seems to nnalert a General. Keep me posted guy. The way they are treating veterans not just these days but seems to be and old song and dance frankly it"s turning my stomach. I also would join up if not already the VFW, DAV and American Legion they can be a great help. Holding back your military records is a major crime as far as I"m concerned. I would also write to every local and major TV network and scream bloody murder.Good Luck Bro!

They told me all my records were lost when they had a fire in Kansas City where they had a fire and the records were stored. Hal

I have to agree with Dave2 on this one. My dad was in WWI and had to have his appendix removed while in France and his pension went through pretty quick because he had a hospital record no matter the reason according to the DAV and as far as I know that rule hasn"t changed. My dad told me after my auto accident while in the service will give me a gtreen light, he said I didn"t write the rule he said, first of all I have no intention of using the accident for bennies but if I want to get disability that works. I"m willing to sign petitions or what ever to help you guys.Keep me posted. Hey, we"re all in this together!
