Tire Selection Opinions Required

I have a Kubota B3030 with a 60" belly mower. I use it to mow about 3 acres of grass around my property. The turf is a bit rough and this tractor pummells me when I mow. My insides get sore.
It has the Industrial/Construction tires on it. I wonder if I switch to turf tires if the ride would improve.
I want to know what you folks think because I don't want to buy them if they won't help.

Thanks

Spend your money on a steam roller to come and flatten the ground. I have a section that is also rough and I have turfs on and I've rolled it repeatedly with a 400 lb roller and it's still rough. Turfs may help a bit but see if you can find a guy with a steam roller to come. Some guy around here advertises this service and I'm considering it.

I don't think it will help you a bit. The only way to improve the ride is with larger diam. tires. Your tractor probably has 12.4x24s on it now, with an outside diam. of 45.3 inches. I took a quick look in my Firestone book and found All traction Utilities that have an over all diam of 55.2 inches. That should improve your ride noticeably.

Yes turf tires would give you a softer ride Not because of the tread type but because the sidewalls a softer so the tire has some give in it.

only thing turf tires will do is not damage grass as bad as lug type tires...i'd drop air pressure in tires you have to 10-12 pounds or low enuff to have tires squat some...also slow down your ground speed

Bo is right. Find someone with a heavy roller. I have a roller made from an old 500 gallon anhydrous tank. The actual ground contact surface is 60" and it holds a calculated 550gallons of water, so I estimate it weighs around 5500 LB. It takes a 35 horse tractor to pull it without the rear wheels clawing into the turf. Rolling the lawn early in the spring mashes out all the night crawler mounds and other litle bumps but if you have some potholes and ruts it won't do much for them. Dad does all the mowing on the farm and his 85 year old body really appreciates the smoother lawn after I roll it. Jim

Get a better seat, or just plain slow down. That rough ride with the bouncing and jerking is not good for your tractor either.

I went from turf tires to industrial tires on my 7800 kubota. The best move I've made. No big difference in the ride either.
