And sometimes it took more than one to get them out.

Combine stuck twice and the grain cart stuck once. For as wet as it was I feel lucky toonly get the chains out 3 times.

All and all not a bad year.

We are still writing history here. Late planting, record cool summer, record soybean yields and record corn yields are combining to make harvest very slow. We have had a good run the last week or so.

The link is to pictures this morning from the elevator. The silver pickup truck is my wife. She left home at 5AM and was first in the second line of four lines that are about a 1000 feet long. Nearly a mile of trucks and they are still coming. The elevator quit taking wet corn at 10:30AM

Gary,

Glad to see you got the crop in! We were in CR in early October for about a week and couldn't get around to see all the harvest work. Not much going on around CR then, but they were just starting northeast of Marion.

Have a good winter!

Best regards,

Stan

Here north of Peoria IL still going, nothing like you had, (stuckwise) many still getting a good start, some wrapping up,still wet. Other day local elevator not taking wet corn past 8:30a.m. Fun Times!!!

Congrats gary! It feels like we are finally making headway. Down to 500 acres of corn now. The corn has dried down to 20-24, some even less, and that is making life ALOT easier. We are going to push as much corn in and out of the driers as we can before next week which looks to be very rainy. We may actually finish this harvest before december gets here! I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Around the neighborhood there still are numerous bean fields and MANY people havent really got a good start on corn harvest. It will be a long fall for alot of people here.

Always a good feeling to be done. I have a few more days to go up here. My 95 day corn was not to bad it averaged 26% and 52 test weight. Now I"am in some 100 day that was planted April 24. Its the uglyest nastyest corn I"ve ever combined. Its running 30% moisture and 42 test weight. The ears have gray hair growing on them along with the black mold. I have the cylinder set in the small grain range at 750 RPM and there are still a few kernals here and there on the cobs. I feel sorry for the guys that take their corn to the elevator. After the shrink, drying charge, test weight dock and FM dock they are not going to have much left. The local ethonol plant is rejecting loads under 48 TW. Looks like they are going to have a tough time finding corn if they don"t relax that requirement. I can"t wait for this harvest to be over and to forget this year in its entirety!

Great feeling, isn't it Gary? Rain from Ida stopped here, still windy and gray.

Weather looks good and warm there too.

BEEN So DURN wet!,, This week Corn dried in the feild a half % each day , for me thats faster than drying with air in the bin , shelled some today that read out at 17.3 ..

Good to hear Gary. I've been out the last few weeks trying to unpack after moving to our new house. Now I can get back to the farm, and try to plow our fields that have been off for a month now. Got slowed up first because we didn't get the engine for our 1855 until after we had the corn off, and then between the rain and moving it ended up sitting for about 3 weeks until I was able to get a start again last Sunday.

Thank God we've only gotta plow under 24 acres, but we gotta try getting bedding off a swamp. Dad got stuck once already trying to cut it. Any luck, I'll have the plowing done this weekend and then we can worry about the bedding.

We still gotta get our wagon outta the field that busted the rear tandem.
