Cutting Milo in Kansas - couple of pics

Well, I've been trying. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Sometimes I can get the pic thing to work, and then sometimes not.

Most around here (central Kansas) goes to livestock feed. Fed to cattle and hogs like corn also feed to poultry. Some used to make ethanol. Most planted in 30" rows, grows from about 2' to 5' tall, good crop this year, most making 100+ bushels per acre. Most is harvested with a grain head but some use a row head, which works good in a "down" crop. We are harvesting with 2 7720 JD's with 24' grain tables.

Been almost 30 years since we grew it, but I still remember the itching. Had 2 "F" Gleaners with blowers, but no A/C.

Enjoyed the pics. I lived in Lawrence for a while, from about 1975 to 1976. Enjoyed the pheasant hunting. Don't think I've had pheasant since I moved back to Tx.

(quoted from post at 07:39:22 11/09/09) Where in Kansas? I'm originally from Oberlin.

We just got done harvesting Milo yesterday near Smith Center (NorthCentral KS). It was pretty good stuff. Took a long time to get it all in due to weather tho. Still a lot of corn and milo coming off the fields.

I know the seeds are round- are they so hard you have to grind or crack them for use as feed? I've never seen it in person.
