Flu shoot. Ya O/T

Well I got a flu shoot on the 27th of OCT and have felt sick ever since. Guess for once I should not have let them do it to me. So any body else in the same boat as I am

LOL I have got one every year for about a decade with no problems till this year so maybe it is just one of those things with the V.A. and them trying to kill off the free loading vets. LOL. Ya like any of us vet are free loaders but some times the gov makes us feel that way

Got one in 1986 and thought I was gonna die. Haven't had one since. Always managed to be sick when the window opened while in the military.

I had that experience when I got flu shots 2 different times in the early 1980's. Both times I got sick within 48 hours and got sick enough that I missed a couple of days of work and felt lousy for much longer. So I didn't take the offered shots they gave at work for free ever again.

This year my Doctor convinced me that it would be a good idea for me to try a flu shot again, as the way they produce the nnalert these days is not the same as how they used to do. So I got my flu shot 2 weeks ago. I have not had any problems at all this time. It will be interesting to see if getting the shot really helps to keep me from getting the flu. I don't think I have had the flu since the previous times I had the shots...so maybe I am naturally immune. I hope!

Hope you feel better soon.

I got one Tuesday of last week felt terrible till yesterday. On the way home from work I noticed I felt good for a change. Don't think I want another one.

Old, you are having common side effects from the flu. The shot is NOT a live virus, so you don't actually "get" the flu, just side effects. The nasal mist is a weakened version of the flu, but still people are suffering from side effects. The worst problems are usually allergic reactions, often by those allergic to eggs. The are a very tiny few that suffer other side effects, but again those are extremely rare.

Have never had one and have no plans to ever get one.The wife got a flu shot 10 years ago and said never again as she felt lousy for weeks after.

HAve never had a flu shot and havent had the flu since I was early 20's, 39 now. Not saying its not needed for some, but for me, I'll pass.

My wife and I received our annual flu shot on Sept. 23rd. We had no side affects. We also got a pneumonia shot in August. Hal

Neither James or I have ever had a flu shot and probably never will. I"ve had the flu twice in 40+ years, plus too many people I know have had reactions to them. If it ain"t broke, don"t fix it.

I've never gotten one and as of now I have no plans to. As it is I'm seldom ill. My mom and grandmother always get one. Grandma because she is 87 and mom because she takes care of grandma. As far as I know neither of them have had any ill effects.

I get the flu shot every year and I honestly believe it helps fight the common cold too. Never had any problems or side effects and never got the flu since taking the shots.

Could be you were coming down with something when you had the shot. I've only had one flu shot and it was cause I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. My philosophy is getting sick once-in-awhile toughens you up. My mother had polio during the epedimic in the early fifties and she was also a nurse, so as a kid I was nnalert for everything under the sun and I don't remember reacting to any of them. Jim

Haven't had one, and have no plans to get one. I had my annual physical at the VA last week and told my VA doctor exactly that.

When I was in the Marine Corps, it was not an option. Every year everyone got a flu shot. And every time, I came down with a huge case of the flu a couple of days later. I haven't had a flu shot since.

I have had the shot every year except one fron the time they first became avaible and that year was because they did not get it schedualed in time to get the vacination. Never any side efects and the one year that I did not get one was the year I got sick, get them at work but now instead of work paying for them it is medicare.

The Flu shot is a killed virus as John S B stated. No one gets the flu from a killed virus despite the BS that gets posted. You will get an immune response from the shot, that is what it needs to do to build immunity. Some may get a larger immune response than others or may have been exposed to the flu or common cold and experience those symptoms.
No one is forced to get a flu shot, individual decision.

Have had flu shots for years and no adverse reactions. Like some of the others have said, you need to be exposed to some "junk" to build immunity for later.
Maybe growing up on the farm and eating dirt, tasting manure when the milk cow swatted me with her tail, breathing dust from dusty combines, etc. gave me a healthier immune system.
Today's kids growing up in a "germ killing" workd with all the sanitizers never get a chance to improve their immunity to "junk".
Keep smiling, makes people wonder what you are up to!!

I didn't get one & don't plan on it either. My mother turned 100 in Oct & has never had one in her life & she doesn't get the flu either.

My mom was an RN and we always got flu shots, once I moved to Dallas I stopped getting them. A few years ago I came down with it - not a sniffle for a few days but a sick in bed and thought I was gonna die case. Now, as soon as they are available I am the first in line!

Wayne, I think you have a point there!!!

"eating Dirt..." I spit my coffee all over the compute screen!!!! LOL

Yeah, that is probably why i don't get sick either...sl

Rich ,
good thing I re read that again I was gittin ready to get up on my chair and fly into you with all four feet ~~~LOL

I get a regular flu shot every year for 10 bucks- wife is a dental hygienist, her office has a guy come and give the shots at the office, and most husbands come in as well. (BTW, the shot giver is also the county Coroner) Never had a bad reaction, and never get the flu, seldom get a bad cold. Works for me. Wouldn't mind getting a swine shot as well, but I'm in the low risk group (61 and healthy), so probably won't have the chance.

All 4 feet what did they do add a couple feet to you at one of the V.A. hospitals and tell you that you needed the extra traction?? LOL

I work in a large hospital and the flu shots are mandatory this year. I never got a flu shot until a few years ago, and now I get one every fall. I"ve had healthy winters since that first shot, and have never become ill from an injection. Despite my hospital employment, I get the other 95% of my ongoing health care from a chiropractor. My overall health has improved a lot since avoiding the medical maze and going with chiropractic.

You DO realize that if you get a flu shot--especially the H1N1 shot--the nnalert win. After all, the flu hysteria was just something whipped up by the nnalert to fill us with fear, and to give them further control over our lives. Folks have been surviving the flu for generations without these shots, and it's only because of the nnalert and the state-controlled media that fear has been generated for what once was considered routine.

I heard this on conservative talk radio, so there's no dispute that it's true.

Sorry but you are wrong.

The nasal spray used for H1N1 is a weakened LIVE VIRUS. That is why they restrict its usage to those in good health. It WILL give you a slight case of the swine flu but if you are good health it won't amount to anything. If you are in poor health you could easily end up with a full blown case of swine flu courtesy of your local health department.

The injected nnalert is not a live virus but it can give you flu like symptoms but you won't actually have the flu - if you can tell the differance.

Naw, it was the lieburral techies who said that the world would come to a halt when all the computers rolled over to the year 2000. It was the folks at Enron who actually made the power grid cause rolling blackouts as they manipulated the energy markets...but they were conservatives who were just pursuing the almighty dollar, so that was OK.

36,000 people die of the Flu in the US every year, after reading these notes its easy to see why. GO GET YOUR FLU SHOT it won't hurt.
