Classified Ads section rant

I have made a few post in the last few months in this sites classified ad section. I have been getting an over abundance of replies that I suspect are a scammer. In all my ads I have a price clearly stated and only list four "tractor parts" in each ad. Ussually someone replies a day after i post the ad asking me if the item is still for sale and how much I want for it. I don"t reply to those ads. Their phone number and address is not in the reply. I cant figure it out. My prices are in the ad what is their problem, once and a while I will reply asking them what year their tractor and what parts in particular they are interested in. I never get a reply. I am thinking about going with phone calls only and the heck with email. I am getting way too much spam nowadays. Craigslist probably isn"t much better, havent used it much yet. In my email I have noticed some respones are RE; but I have had no prior contact with them. Has anyone else had this issue.
The other day, I had a mccormick Deering 10-20 part for sale on ebay. Some bozo emailed me asking how many hours were on the tractor and if I was the original owner. WTF.
I am getting out of parting out tractors. It has been way to frustating selling stuff for little profit and dealing with all the email issues i mentioned above. Thanks for your time.

I receive the same type of goofy questions on the photo ads on this site and craigslist. The people are fishing for a legit email address so they can send you a bunch of Viagra spam and other types of spam. Craigslist is a lot worse than this site for that type of emails. I just delete the email without replying. Pete

i understand wher you are coming from i get alot of parts from this site and i only use email i hate the telephone so if you got something i want and dont respond to my email chances are im not buying from you one time a guy wouldnt email me so i called him but that was for a real rare part that i wanted now only phone call i ever made

By the same token, he certainly has a right to set his own terms of sale, and requiring telephone response is the the single best way to weed out the scammers and minimizing spam, as well. Bongo Kabongo, the sole heir of the Crown Prince of Rhodesia, is understandably reluctant to go one on one over the phone.
