Difference Conti F-162 and F-163 engines

I would like to know what is the difference between these two engines. Will parts interchange? I am trying to find a hydraulic pump, gear driven, to go on the aft side of the front cover of a F-163 engine. I have got a lead on what is supposed to be a F162. The drive gear I got is 38 tooth and 3.185 in od. Any help in getting a pump that works will make my day. I am working on a Clark IT-40 forklift that someone stuck a F-163 engine made for some Allis Chalmers machine in it. Also, anyone got any leads on used forklift parts yards?

George,
Those engines were used on the Lincoln SA-200
welders used by pipeliners for decades. Check here:

I may be wrong on this but from what I understand one is the common tractor sort of engine and the other the industrial type. I know that is true of the 226 and 227s. As for parts you might try this place equipment salvage 749-439-5512 if I read those right I left my glasses in the other room

According to Sealed Power parts book Rod brgs. Main brgs. Cam Brgs are the same. many other parts may or may not be the same depending on how engine was configured at new. There are 6 different cam gears for F162 and 3 for F163. The 3 for F163 are all listed for F162. 5 of the 6 for 162 are 48 teeth and one has 56 (not for use with hyd. pump). Oil pump may or may not be the same. 3 choices for F162 and 2 choices for F163. Valves are different. Head same size but stem length different.
Valve springs and lifters are the same. Valve keepers are different.
So have fun and good luck!

The 163 replaced the earlier 162; there was a slightly higher power rating due to higher compression. Same with the F-227 vs F-226. I have some engineering data on these, but no parts lists.
