RE: 12 Volt Wiring Diagram

Hey Everyone,

This is my first time using Yesterday"s Tractor page so bear with me. I am starting a restoration on a Farmall H. I was wondering if anybody had a wiring diagram for a 12 volt system and where can I by a reasonbly priced wiring harness and orginal style switchs, ampmeters. I know originally the H"s had 6 volt systems but this tractor is currently without any wiring so I figured now would be the time to convert it.

Thanks

Can't help you on the wiring harness, but I'm sure somebody will. Only piece of advice that I'm going to give is this. Go to a 12 volt generator, not an alternator. That's a Delco system,Oliver used them too. The Oliver diesels of that era were 12 volt and the generator and regulator from one of those should bolt right up to your original brackets, hook up to the wiring harness, look and operate just like they were made for it. Check the parts out on this site,or there are places like T.H.E. Company,the-co.com,or countless others. Just my 2 cents worth.

Heres a URL Link for my friend Bob M"s Farmall Wiring Diagrams, even if at 12 versus 6 volts, other then perhaps the addition of an external coil ignition ballast resistor, the diagrams are pretty much the same. If its a Voltage Regulator (LBD light switch) or the older cutout relay (LHBD light switch) also makes a difference.

I've attached a link to a 12v alternator conversion wiring diagram from BobM, who checks in here but seems to hang around more over on the Farmall board.

As far as a harness for such a conversion, I went for a look at two suppliers and don't see one pre-made for an alternator setup on an H. Agri-Services (wiringharnesses.com) could make one up, but it would take some time. Brillmans (brillman.com) lists harnesses for a one-wire alternator for all the letter series it seems except the H, so they might be a faster source. Both are excellent companies for quality and customer service.

here is a coruce for the farmall H wireing harness and 12v conversion, i have one on my H and i couldnt be happier with it, (12v conversion)

Good luck, -pat

I wanted to thank everyone for responding to my question regarding changing my 6 Volt system on my H to a 12 Volt system. As soon as I get the parts rounded up and harvest is over I will get started. I will keep you posted.

Thanks again,
