Underwater messkit repairman?
Good for him. Just make sure he schedules his annual leave during your hay window. Or make him pay the labor for one helper

As a 21 year Navy vet, I am proud of him. Please tell him thanks from me.

I would love to help bale hay. Let me know when and where. I can still throw 65 lbs, but not those dang 90# alfalfa bales.

Was it hard to transition into leading a dance after spending so long in the partner roll?? Was always told that the Navy guys had to be dance partners for the Marines while at sea

Just kidding.
Thanks for your service.

Dave

Funny thing is his dad was a marine and died when he was 4. I was in the navy from 1974 to 1980 so instead of following his father he is follow his step dad instead. He hopes to get over to Japan while he is in. Church had a party last night with pizza and a big cake for him

Having spent 6 years in the Navy from the late 80"s to early 90"s, all I can say is I wish him well. After getting in I longed for the "old days" when the disipline and respect that had been a standard of military service was still inn practice. What I experienced was more along the lines of political correctness in the form of s3xual orientation "equality" gender "equality", racial equality, etc, etc, etc, all at any cost.

I can"t count the number of times when I saw/heard of someone getting into trouble over something they may or may have not said or did, or worse over something that someone just accused them of as a form of retribution when soemthing didn"t go the way they wanted it to.

On top of all of that I also saw many many times the way our government flat out wasted money yet was always asking for higher taxes and "more" when they literally threw away what they were given.

While I respect the heck out of your boys desire to serve and wish him the best I just hope things haven"t gotten any worse than they were when I was in. I wouldn"t take anything for the experience I had back then, but seeing what I saw and learning what I learned when I was in and then what I"ve seen since getting out, there is no way I would suggest the military as a career for anyone nowdays......especially with the person currently holding this countries title of Commander in Chief......

Rich, please thank him from me too. My son-in-law left for Air Force basic on the 20th of October. Greg

Guess that explains this....

best wishes here also and thanks to you and your family. went in the army at age 20 and when i compare the man that went in and the man that came out i have to say it was overall a good experience.

Congrats to both of you. Tell him Thanks from me and my family.

Good luck to him on his future and you on finding bale help.

I wish him the best. The seabees was my first choice of a school in boot camp, but I got my second choice aircraft mechanic on large planes, which ment no ship board duty. Your son will probably not spend much time on a ship. He will get to see a lot. I wish him well. If I lived closer I would love to help you bale hay. Miss those days. Stan

Old, i've had that happen to me twice. One to the navy and one to the army. Things still get done, just not quite as fast!

Tell him to get ready for some cold times. That lake gets very cold. I was there from Sept 68 to Dec 68. Asked for PT Boats in nam. Ended up on the USS Saratoga CVA 60. Out of Mayport FL. Spent twenty two years in the service. Yes it is not what it used to be. But I would go again if I could. Marines make good bellhops. Hope your boy gets a good one.

Ya, easy tiger. Nav vet, '85-'89. Was in Toulon France in '86, got into what could only be described as a classic squid/leatherneck bar room brawl. Even though those no-necks did a lot more drilling and were/are in general a little beafier than us, everyone was giving as good as they got. Got out just before the Shore Patrol got there. It was awesome!
