OT/local rednecks?

Here's a question. Just recently, like in the past 6-8 months, all the local rednecks,my nephew included, are putting big semi truck exhaust stacks up through their pickup boxes right behind the cabs.(I asked my nephew if he'd gone into the plumbing and heating business with that furnace duct in the back of his truck) Is that something exclusive around here in mid Michigan,or are the boneheads doing it all over the country?

God,what's next,a return to CB radios and big whip antennas?

LOL

You been under a rock for a while, or perhaps
"away" under a doctor's care?

Stacks? Lots of 'em around.

Still a lot of CBs, but bedrail-mounted co-phased FireStix have taken over from the old long whips.

Tres sportif!

It's apparently all over the country as their doing it here in south central Kentucky too. Mostly teenagers and young adult males 16-25 years old. They also love to get in the truck ( especially if it's a diesel ) and rev the motor up.I personally don't see any sense in it, nor do I see any sense in the big 22 " wheels either.

here in nc i see it all the time .if they make the payments,do what turns them on. better than rapeing and stealing and plundering. ? what was the thing when you were young. loud pipes ,big tires , loud music, jacked up high or can you remember being young???

i see it here too, i guess if somebody wants to put truck stack tips in ther pickups [ they just use the top stack tips] its up to them, its their truck lol, i dont need them on my pickup as my kenworth already has em lol

I saw a little foreign car the other day with a 6 inch exhaust pipe on the passenger side of the car that went two feet above the car.

I wouldn't want a hole in my box but I guess when you own it you can do what you want. I have a st. pipe on my Dodge but it comes out behind the wheel. Those fart cannons on those 4 cyl. cars really annoy me, most of those kids will never know how nice a v8 sounds with good exhaust. Some of those kids thought their 4 bangers were really hot. My friends daughter delighted in waxing them with her Mustang!

Ya, there all over the country, have been for quite a while. I like them, since when they get on it, like they feel that have to, their exhaust doesn't blow strait at me. Really ticks me off when a guy in traffic that can't really go anywhere jumps on the fuel and buries me in black smoke. Makes me want to follow them to wherever their going and slap 'em around some. Jacka$$es!

There is nothing better then having stacks on your cummins/duramax/powerstroke and blowing smoke all over the white trash 4 banger import cars.

Happens here all the time

Delbet's in his 60s and Joe just put one on his old Chevy 2 wheel drive gasser for him!

When I was young? Jacking up the rearend with longer spring shackles,Mickey Thomson G-60s and chrome wheels. Don't remember anybody trying to make their ElCamino or Ford Torino look like a KW or Freightliner though.

Been around here (nw/ WI) for quite a while now. I would never cut my truck bed or waste the space like that, but that's just me. What REALLY looks dumb is the dual stacks on a Dodge/Cummins wiht only 1 stack hooked up... only smokes on the one! Even worse than that is the one I saw yesterday... rusty ol S10 with the twin stacks in it.
Big antennas are around here too... but it's the bear hunters, for tracking their dogs.

Makes about as much sense as those 50 horsepower mufflers and 15 MPH spoilers on a Honda Civic. Just my opinion--as long as it's not my money I don't care and it's got to help the economy somewhere.

That's really funny, you wanting to slap'em around some,
I seen that happen to a feller in Denver, the guy being slapped, pulled out a small hand gun, and put a bullet in the guys head, there was no more slappen for him,,,
Happy Slap'en -----> LOL

Gee, deep thoughts. Must be one of those rednecks this posting is talking about. And it's "I saw", not "I seen", smart guy.

Maybe I'm just a hayseed, but I see it as a way to turn a longbed into a shortbed, and a shortbed into...a SportTrack or something.

Yup I remember the Keystone Klassics (still have a set) B.F. Goodrich Radial T/As (turned to smoke and blacktop patch long time ago) twin Hustler antennas and a CB (gave to Jimbo years ago) and dual 2 1/2" exhausts with reamed out NAPA Challengers straight out the back. Of course Dad always said 'don't take a ballbat to a gun fight' so there was never less that 400 cubic inches under the hood.
Now it's fun to play king of the road with a MPFI 300 ci Cadillac (computer tweeked) scruffy Eldorado. Those rice rockets wonder what left them in the cloud at a stoplight. Yup I've grown up! LOL

Got some of the same idiots down here in my part of Texas. Also see them with stock exhaust system out to the bumper. Then a large tip hanging off the end of the pipe. The new fad around here is to lug the engine until they get a large cloud of black smoke pouring out of the pipes. Tried to tell one kid. That is just money going out the pipes. But what does this old man know.

I don't understand who they think they are trying to impress, each other? If they think girls are impressed by that they have a lot to learn.

I have only seen one or two of those around here. Since it is not legal to modify the exhaust and this is so obvious, I have seen the police making an issue out of that...much more prevelant are dodge cummins with straight pipes. The police seem to leave those alone.

Our local court system is eating this up. Not only are they loud compared to the stock exhaust, each of the ones around here have the pump timing modified as well as turning them up. They smoke when throttled hard making dangerous scenes. Our state law reads that a muffler must be installed and exhaust must be maintained to prevent excessive smoke. Cars and trucks do not smoke like this when they are new and the courts will uphold every citation. So when they blast it at the light and smoke up the intersection imparing vision trying to make a scene, done deal. The traffic awards seem to add up adding more to the economy.

Nothin' new here in north Florida. Usually it's Dodge losers.. I keep the Duramax incogneeto. They are usually teenage boys that inherited a farm truck, I can't blame 'em, I've done worse. Does anyone else remember a truck that Dodge offered, called the "little red wagon" or something, that had stacks. There was a couple of them around here when I was a kid in the 70's

Economy can"t be all that bad if there is spare cash for oversize vehicles and modifications.
Probably the worst sound out there is those "Phart Can" muffler tips on the ecnobox cars.

This was the little red wagon:

I imagine what your refering to is the Dodge Little Red Express:

Just as a joke I told my son I was gonna put stacks up behind the cab on my 79 Dodge and the 98 Cummins and before I could finish the sentence he said NO and went on to another subject. Jim

I have a set of 6" Aussie Stacks in my '93 Dodge D250 diesel. Its turned up about 30% over factory and has dual turbos. Its not to impress anybody, just that I work in diesel shop and love the black smoke and Horse Power! We do a lot of diesel performance work for people, so I use the truck as advertising for the company too. All of our shop trucks are snoosed up to some degree.

I also don't think much of politicians with their emissions laws.

Ya'll forgot, after you add the big chimney, you have to add a train horn, to wake up the whole neighborhood! We had one in the general area spent about 2 grand on manifolds, new computer chip, fancy chimney, took the thing down to the dyno, and all his $$$ gained him exactly 1 HP, on the dyno!

I know what you mean. The other thing that is those fart can cars with wannabe drivers doing hip hop rattling my mirrors on my Harley Screaming Eagle at the light thinkin even with nitrous can do a bike in shame on those DAs. Shame on me for crapping on them I doubt if the ink on their DLs are dry yet. Diesel boys will find out soon their new young lady doesn't want to stay at home while their boy has to come up with three grand to fix their dog.

Guys, this is old News! Here in Texas this has been going on for 10 yrs or so. Semi style chrome pipes, over size tires, Jacked-up to the moon, just smaller versions of "Bigfoot" Trucks that will never pull a load, or see a real mud hole trying to get feed to a bunch of cattle in 20 degree weather.
What is next?..... The 12.50X16 rear tire on factory steel wheels with a hubcap center.
This is the look that the trucks out of Lampasas, Llano, and San Saba Texas had for over 20 yrs.
Back then it was the 16.5 tire where it will be the 16 now days.

My truck is modified, can lay out some smoke if I wanted to. All that nice black smoke is unburnt fuel. I normally just keep it in my daily driver program (no smoke) and about 20 MPG. Now when there is the kid right next to me with his windows down, rattleing everyone around, I just lug it and smoke him until he gets the idea occasionally, or I will throw a little smoke to mess with a friend behind me when no one else is around, but thats about it. Jacking up a truck is pretty pointless to me. I have enough trouble getting my gooseneck trailer up over my truck. Especially when it comes to lifting stuff in and out of the truck.

Most of the mega-lifted trucks will never see mud. Most are want-to-be's. The lifted trucks that have minor lift kits are the real off-road trucks. Here's how to Id. them:They usually don't look really good or are 1980's or older and have a big GAS engine. Max lift on these these are 4-9 inches and some are play trucks. Some are actual every day work and after work trucks and that is need for there line of work. The Diesel trucks with stacks is just another form of competition, my stacks are bigger than yours sort of thing. The most POINT-LESS thing I have seen is a GAS truck with 6" diameter stacks. I had half a mind to take them off and put one on my oliver but Mr. police man wouldn't like that. Oh well. The whips are back down here. I'm here in south-east Texas and I'm used to the competition that drives "The Redneck truck thing" as I call it. Just give it time, the fakes will weed them selves out and the real ones who need it will remain.

ummmm well too late on the CBs and whips but i acculy use mine! my truck is not lifted nor will it ever be becuase that would make my truck useless. im pretty sure my truck sees more mud and work then any of those lifted trucks ever will. i guess you could say me and my friends are rednecks since we all do have CBs and only a few of us have whips but i really dont see why its a big deal. my truck looks good with 2 5 ft whips and a magnet mount antenna in the middle on the roof.
im not critiziing or anything but im just making a statment. i think certin diesels look good with some 5 inch stacks on them. to each his own

funny thing, I know a guy who lived at a corner with a stop sign in a neighborhood. There were several kids that had "I've got a go fast" little cars. One day my friend was getting tired of the same few guys making noise at the stop sign, so he walked out and suggested that he could show them what Quick was. They parked their car and followed him to his garage where he had his Old Studebaker pickup. It has a big block Buick and an automatic with a shift kit in it. He got it out, let it warm up then took them for a ride. He took off at the stop sign and sucked them back into the seat. The only problem was the county mounty sitting in the church parking lot. My friend was doing probably around 60mph in a 25mph zone when he spotted the cop. He said that it was almost worth the ticket after seeing the look on those kids faces. The pickup went back into storage for a while after that.

Your Funny,,,,,,, happy slapping to you deep thoughts ,,,,,,

It is nothing new in VA. I've even thought about it myself - just for grins. I have a 3" pipe off the turbo and all the way back so I can't see that a stack would make it any louder. However, two 6 inch bull hauler stacks tell me that a truck is for show and not work. And yes I've had the CB with the whip antenna. At least you could talk on the CB and drive - way safer to grab the mike and holler for someone than to try to find their number in your cell phone. Things were simpler then, but I don't know about better...

I'm SURE your keeping busy enough just making corrections for every one on this forum, ha ha ha ha ha,,,, happy slappen,,, just be careful not to catch a bullet while your slappen,,,,
