Dad bought a Golden Jubilee

He finally got one, has been trying to get one for as long as i can remember! He bought it from the son of the origional owner. It is supposed to have the origional rear tires on it. It seem to be in pretty good shape, the rear fenders are both bent in from a tree falling on them. The tach shows 985 hours but isnt working, the cable spins and the tach works when i spin it with a drill so its the connection between the two. It had a bad water pump when he bought it, i replacet that and the fan belt yesterday for him. The carb could use a good cleaning, as it likes to run with a little choke. The right bal joint out of the steering box is loose and needs replacement. The tractor runs great at full throttle but the govenor will kick the throttle back to a fast idle, this will be the next thing i look into and fix. The three point is slow to respond but does work and doesnt "jump". The sheet metal is pretty good, has some damage at the bottom left of the grill side panel.
It also came with a one bottom plow, a quack digger, a buzz saw, two sets of chains, belt pulley, stay links, stab bars and drawbar.

You guys made a heck of a find!It looks like it will make a wonderfull project and has incredible possibilities for a show tractor too.Did he grow up with one like that one,or does he just like the Golden Jubilee's?

Yeah, forgot to mention that, both my mom and dad grew up driving one. Both had the sherman over unders on them but this one does not. My moms family was strictly ford up till her dad died in the late 70's. Dads parents always had a small ford for chores and light work and had olivers for the field work. I asked dad his intentions for it and he just wants to work on it and get mechinacally right and usable. He doesnt plan a full restoration because he wants to use it and have fun with it. And it pretty nice as it is anyway.

A little side story, back in 2003 we were looking at trading our Versatile 895 off for a 9682 New Holland Versatile as dad has always done he was discussing it with mom and her reply was "at least its blue, the color tractors should be!"

My uncle bought one of those new. Not sure what happened to it. I suspect that a second cousin has it. Another uncle bought a new Dexta around 1960. I know his grandson still has that one. That's the one I'd like to get my hands on. That little diesel always sounded SWEET!

no ball joint on the sterirng box. there is a sector shaft out each side with a sector arm installed on it with a socket for the draglink end. that end could be bad.. or less likely, the socket/pin joint may be hogged out.. usualy repair is replacement of the effected part.. though i have seen good farm repairs on a socket with a welder and some carefull drilling / filing of the tapered seat.

needing choke to run is usually indicative of a fuel obstruction ( including mainjet), vacume leak, ( choke enriches the mix ).. or weak spark ( rich mix fires easier ).

if the governor can snatch back enough to move the hand throttle, check the bellcrank/friction disc at the top of the bellhousing.

sounds like it came with lots of extras.. that's always good to find..
