We've had our 333 Massey for 5 or 6 years now and this summer the clutch was rusted solid to the flywheel. We got it freed up,but someone told us to put a short stick between the clutch pedal and the floor board to keep it from sticking again when sitting for quite awhile in the winter months.Another man told us not to dare, because it will weaken the pressure plate springs. What to some of you guys do?

i have a farmall h that does that, i just prop the clutch pedal down with a stick. never had any problems.

most folks say to block the pedel down to fix that problem im lucky i use my tractors everyday and never had that problem

Never heard about the weakening pressure plate fingers before. Anyone who has dealt with a stuck clutch will approve the blocking the pedal method.

Just put a new clutch in my 600.Fellow I bought the clutch from says block it 1/2 way down.Ive had one stick in 3 weeks .The tractor sits 3 months with out sticking.Ive heard thatNew tractors come from Japan with the clutch blocked down.

I'd love to be able to use it every day,but all the rain here and mud lately,I hate to even use the modern ones to get bales.Cleaned up a loader tractor today to only run it in deep mud to feed heiffers as soon as I was done.

Flexing a spring back and forth is what wears it out. Merely holding it in one place does nothing to it. So blocking isn't nearly as harmful as actually using the clutch the way it's meant to be used.

Not quite a tractor, but I have a 1974 750 Honda that my engine builder told me to put a clamp around the clutch lever every time I parked it. I have done that since 1974 and never have had a problem.

My Ford manual says to block the clutch when not using the tractor for several months. I kid you not the tractor came with a small wooden block with a v in it to block the clutch. j

For the first 15 years I sold KUBOTAS every one came from Japan with that silly wood block, always left it with the purchaser and never heard of a problem with clutch springs. Being in the small tractor market it is not unusual to see owners that might not uses their tractor for say 4 months over winter months. Belive I would take the man,s advice and use the block.

Thanks, yours looks great also! If you saw mine in real life, you would see all the normal wear and tear.

I bought the bike the day after I graduated, May 20, 1974. I rode it that summer and then had a buddy (He was a mechanic for Mark Dismore) build the bike. He added 100cc, cam, rejetted, changed gearing, etc. I now only put 200-300 miles on a year. I believe it has just over 15,000 miles. It still runs great, sounds good, and now gets looks because of how "old we are....."
