rain AGAIN ARGGGAHH!!!!!

We are the same way here in southern Iowa. Its time to get out and harvest, but the weather won't cooperate and our corn we want to pick is testing 30% as of last week.Dad did the water tank test on 4 ears of corn yesterday. It passed that test but now we are going to have to wait for cold weather in order to get it picked.Muddy conditions with a 2 row pull type picker doesn't work well.Does everyone know the water tank test for ear corn?

Well, here in central missouri my ground was saturated then I got an inch and a half yesterday and so far 3 inches today. I've given up. The horses are out so I closed the barns and I decided to just let them run. They won't go far............

We got two and half here in Oklahoma today. Hope that ends it for a little while. Got a cutting of Alfalfa to get laid down and baled.

Hi glen what town in ill i came from Libertyville i got to SD in 1958 we had rain all day to day most of the beans out in lake county corn is from 25 to 40 mositer most still in the feild

kent, my farms are near dwight , my shop is in yorkville. libertyville is about an hour north. about half or a little more of the beans are out around here, almost none of the corn has been combined. we did about 40 acres of my corn about 2 weeks ago, the early plant in may was running 21 %, then there was a replant due to rain, that was 38%. our yields are down quite a bit because most was planted the end of may. running about 175 bu/acre. last few years we were around 200/acre. got beans out couple weeks ago, they were running about 53-54 bu/ac, down from 64 last year. prolly not gonna get the corn out till we get a hard frost in the ground. hate to get the fields all rutted up in this wet.

We had planned on moving my other two horses from Dallas to the farm this w/e. Not going to happen. Too much rain. Can"t get in the pasture or get the trailer out.

Ground is so saturated none of the rain soaks in anymore. Lakes, rivers, creeks, ditches everything is full and overflowing.

Rain? I dunno. However something strange happened here today. There was a bright light in the sky and it also turned all blue.
Mass panic reigned until a history teacher did some research and told us it was just the sun and clear skies.

RAIN Has not made it Here Yet ,, But I do believe when it does , The rain Won't leave til it has dropped at least couple inches ,,.. used 3pt fertilizer spreaderto sow cover crop on bean ground today .. still sloppy here ... been doing beans as wether allows, 13- 13.8,moisture, 51-56 test weight , also same Numbers for Yeild per acre .. GUESS I just Got Lucky ... Got 60 acres of corn to do and have not sheled any yet . Not too sure how to keep it when I start ?... CGB Jeff .,IN , has got too much wet corn on their hands now... brother has been fighting stirator in bin trying to dry low 20s moisture with air ,, he bought a used batch dryer , and is needing some help to get it on line ... heard a few horror stories of corn souring in bins in the county ,, Personally I think itWould help to draw out 10% after a days addition , Just to keep the center from SETTING UP,, What do you All think ?.. Is that a good practice ?,.. honestly, I have to go back to 1973 , to match a year this wet for Us in southern IN.. FOR YEARS <>.been used to it being so dry, Ya don't dare go to the field unless You had a fire extinguisher in the combine ......

I know what you mean about getting the crop in, I live about 25 miles south of you. I was just checking and found that this October is the 2nd wettest on record. The NWS in Lincoln has had 7.5 inches of rain so far this month, and its still falling.

We're in the same boat here, tried to run some milo on Tuesday ahead of the rain but like everything else around the moisture was higher than a month ago. We got nearly 2" of rain yesterday and the feedlots are a mess...but the sun is shining now....
