ford 8n backfiring through carb

It is probably not a carb related issue at all. Is it a 6 Volt or 12 Volt? Front Mount or Side Mount Distributor?

First, if you are sure your firing order is correct--1243 CCW and you have good spark plug wires (copper core) and new Autolite 437 plugs gapped correctly at .025....then I would say you need to look at this as a distributor related problem.

The more info you can give, the easier it will be to diagnose the problem.

I is a 12 volt side mount. It was strange that it was parked in fine running order the next time it was started I had this problem. Thanks for you input.

Need more info to be able to help you well. Could be fuel supply flow problems as in running lean. Could be a stuck valve, could be timing off or advance in the distributor not working. Could be point set work. As I said more info needed

an old mechanic once told me... "90% of "fuel" problems are electrical" over the years I've found that to be true. if'n it were me I would check and double check every part of the electrical system... points, condenser, rotor, cap, plugs & wires, coil, etc. I'd almost betcha you'll find the problem there! ...D
