Neighbor bought a new Caterpillar Lexion combine on tracks. In trying to get corn harvested yesterday he got it stuck. Not a little, but realy stuck. We worked 8 hours yesterday digging and 2 200+HP 4 wheel drives couldn't move it. This morning 2 D-9's one with a winch and the other sitting crossways chained to it. Took 3 hours this morning to winch it out. Didn't think about pictures until after it was out. Was too busy shoveling mud. Camera wasn't in the truck anyway

Kinda ruins your mood when you're pushing hard to get something done and you end up worse off than if you'd sat on your butt all day.

Lesson taught by experience - if the tractor wheels are turning, but the tractor isn't moving, Shut it Down Before it gets buried! Takes a lot less effort to get it out if its not up to the frame in mud.

We have a set of ramps to one of our trailers that are not permanently attached to the trailer. They are heavy steel and come in real handy when a tractor is stuck.

Was helping with harvest in 1982, south of Sioux City Iowa. Farmer told me to not get stuck-I was in the tractor with gravity wagon, he was in the combine. I had not gotten stuck-UNTIL-he pulls out onto the hard drive dividing 2 fields, waves me under the auger, and he fills me up right then and there. Buried that wagon to the axles. Had to walk home and get the other tractor before it would even budge! SO, I can rightly say 'I did not get it stuck' I was only doing as I was told! Greg

I know time is money, but I remember as a boy when a BIG combine was a JD105 and it was a wet wheat harvest. No one was able to cut because of the weight of the machines. All except one nieghbor who had a small massey selfpropelled. It only had a 50 bushel bin,if that big,and a 10 or 12ft header he was able to ride over the top without sinking in. He cut a lot of acres that year. Wish I had that machine now.

Years ago when I worked for the international dealer we sold a fellow a 1680 axail flow combine 2 wd with a8 row wide head. He rented land all over and was going to be the new corn king of the area. I get a call from the boss on a Saturday to see if I can out and fix the combine. He told my boss that they were stuck and broke something on the axle. Loaded up the truck with tools and welders and stuff. I drive the 1.5 hours there to the field, the guy says you cant get to the combine with atruck so we go in a 4 wheel drive tractor. I get there and the rear axle and part of the frame is laying about 50 ft from the combine hooked to a large 4 wheel drive tractor. There were two backhoes and four tractors all there tring to get this combine out. He hit a spring or water hole and the combine sank down and down the more they pulled the farther it went down.they had been there for a day and half digging, they had pumps tring to pump the water out of the hole they had dug with the backhoes. The next day they had to start to lift the combine and setting it on large timbers a little at a time to get it back up to sea level. The operators platform was level with the ground at one point.Only if we had digital cameras back then it would have made for some good talk on the stuck and troubled board. The owner just said when can it be running again, just get it back together.Went back in two days with some steel and welder and hoses for the steering and patched it back together to get it out of the field.Once the combine started to move I didnt see it again untill he was done his crop. So much for quick patch job to move the machine. It held together for about 600 more acres. He floated it back to shop and we replaced the whole under frame unit later that winter.

We did get it out in one piece. Didn't look like anything got damaged. He drove it home to wash about a half acre of mud out and off of it

I got the 600 bushel stuck in field with load of beans about 2 weeks ago. Hooked big tractor on but it was to late. I had already tried backing up a little only to have it go down 4 inches more. Ended up taking auger out to field and reloading 2/3rds onto another wagon. Screwed around about 2 hrs. If only I would have left wagon on road.

In 93 I sunk a 2505 terra gator in a field was funny just crusing along following the other 2 in front of me each containing 4000 gallons of people poop when all the sudden it just stopped . I tried to back up but the thing would not even move a tire a inch .I step out of the cab unto the ground I thought this is funny since the door is 6' off the ground , all 5 72" goodyear floaters were under ground .took 1 big boat anchor chain 3 loaded gators and another 1000.00 probley worth of 1/2 log chain and super duty straps to free it . It took 12 tandem loads of dirt to fill in the hole I created . once in a lifetime is enough for that
