JD A Puller

I have a stock 1952 JD A. Any advice on making it better at the local tractor pull. I don't want to spend a fortune, but I am willing to spend some money. Any tips would be great. Thanks.

First off...what weight class is it in? I would think 5500-6000lbs. Does it have the 1 stick trans or the 2 stick hi-lo? The best advice would be slide the drawbar in as far as you can, get your hitch as high as allowed by the rules at the pull. Keep it in low gear. set the sled where you want it, that is your right, and most of all have fun. Is it stock?

You'll get more help over on the tractor pulling forum, but in a nutshell, determine your budget and how fast you want to go and in what weight class. The rest is easy.

E-mail's open.

Go thru the carb, clean all passages. install pertronics electronic ignition bore it .90 or .125 and install Hinrich high rise pistons, and put a 620 camshaft in it. You won,t run out of power in low gear.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, get your air cleaner gutted and fitted with a paper element. They must breathe easy to pull hard.
