Hi guys ,two way gresen valve is acting up its a model 2702 which I think is a SP .
attached it to my snow plow and cylinders wouldn"t move ,disconnected and ran lines into bucket..It was time to change rear end fluid in my 3000 anyway ,so whe I stroke valve forward fluid comes out both lines and back same thing..
I"m figuring the spool is worn ,,I bought it used. Local suppplier says no replacement spools available .anyone know any sources for parts for these old valves or is it just a papaerweight and go buy another for $250-$350.

2702 is the casting number. Without me getting my book out tell me more. I have some Gresen parts. How can I contact you?

if you want yo can call or e-mail ,I've got the unit apart and can send some pic's ,the two spools are configed d ifferent ,looks like one is for a one way cylinder ,probably the loader lift and the other is a double ,,well maybe !!!902 471 6103 is phone or send me and e-mail and we can chat

On the production line, hydraulic valves are
"lapped in" Machine made bodys are darn close to
perfect, but not absolute perfect. Spools are
measured and placed in pidgin holes, on the bench
of a "fitter". They are grouped in catagories
such as 1/4 thousand undersize, 1/2 thousand
undersize, 1/4 thousand oversize, 1/2 thousandth
oversize, etc.
The fitter grabs a valve body and tries some
spools till he finds one that is a very tight fit.
Then it is lapped in with lapping compound to a
smooth fit. the valve is then flushed, washed and
assembled. That is why quality valve manufacturers
can"t/won"t sell just a spool or valve body.
Remember..the valve has to be leak free from just
the metal to metal polished finish. If your valve is leaking internally, it"s time to replace the
whole valve. ALSO..good filtration = longer life!
Gresen is a very good quality valve. The process
discribed above may not apply to a $59.95 wood
splitter valve mfd. in a sweat shop in China.
