I need to replace an 18hp single cyl. Inteck briggs engine with a 14 hp 2 cyl vanguard briggs engine. On a 48 in. Cut Hydrostatic drive will the 4 less hp make much of a difference cutting an average height lawn grass. Thanks for all comments.

Might want to double check the diameter of the crank shaft I believe 14 is 1" and above that Is
1 1/8" {Power take off,[ electric clutch ]if it has one, would be the most expensive to have to replace.

14hp will work ok if shaft is same size.If mower has electic pto replacement engine must be off one with electic pto or battery will not stay charged or so I have found.

I upgraded my JD 335 from a 48" to a 54" deck. It has the briggs Vanguard 20HP twin. Didn't notice any difference at all.
