Nissan Frontier?

A friend has a 2000 Nissan Frontier truck that the odometer died on. He bought a new speedo but it doesn't include the odometer. Apparently these were a problem on 98 and 99 models but on his 2000 it's been acting up for about 7 years and finally quit along with the rest of the electronic dash. Anyone know an inexpensive way to fix? Dave

Digital dashes kinda come and go sometimes. Only fix is to turn the digital part in for a reman unit.

The last one I bought for an Olds was about $400. Unless they don't reman the units for imports. Then it's plan on going to Nissan and spending a bunch.

The truck was bought new, well maintained and is in very good condition otherwise. Hoping someone might have a more affordable solution than spending big bucks on a complete new instrument cluster. I think he said the speedo alone was $400. Dave

Check ebay for an assembly. If he thinks he'll ever sell the vehicle to someone that cares, he can record the mileage difference and have it notarized. Make real sure that he doesn't have a heater core leak or windshield leak that is getting moisture to the unit, had that with a VW and went through 3 units before I figured it out.
