Back in '74 I was priviledged to have a small part in building the Planters Peanut shelling plant in Aulander, NC. They were near done using big metal teepee burners to get rid of peanut hulls. What do peanut shellers do with hulls today?

also mixed in cow feed...I've hauled loads for that purpose...hard to get a "good load" considering how light weight they are

I remember several years ago, Orscheln's Supply stores in Missouri put a watering trough full of peanuts in the shell by the front door. As you shopped, you threw the peanut hulls on the concrete floor. After a few weeks of the general public tromping around in the hulls, the floors were swept and looked great!

In this neck of the woods they have been used for turkey bedding. Peanut shells have been claimed to be better than wood chips. Jim

Local farm store had "Peanut Days" every spring- always used to have you throw hulls on the floor, but they remodeled last year, now you gotta throw 'em in the garbage can. Just not the same- don't think I'll participate this year.
