skidsteer traction

you combine snow, mud, hard rubber tires, uneven ground, incline, sometimes traction is not to good with a skidsteer. anyone have experience using tire chains? front? rear? both?

I use them everywinter , or even when it's greasy mud. I put them on the rear tires . They get the most load as your pushing . Works great

A Mennonite acquaintance (you know, the NO rubber tire people) has a skid-steer that he bolted steel bars on the rubber wheels. like grousers on a steel wheel tractor.

We had heavy steel track sets that installed over the rubber tires. They aren't cheap, but make 'em about unstoppable.

Chains would do more good on the rear than front if you use only two, but four would be better. I put steel tracks on mine a few years ago- used were typically $1000, but well worth it. They walk!

Get a set of steel tracks that will fit over the rubber tires. It'll make a world of difference. Just be careful pulling it on a trailer with a steel floor. If it's wet you won't stop it from sliding.

I run chains on the rear tires on mine, but what you do is dependant on the frame clearance you have. I could probably run fronts too but I don't really see a need. One set seems to keep the machine moving fairly well when it's just traveling... and when you're pushing you seldom have much weight on the fronts anyway. The only benefit I see to front chains would be for backing out of holes on ice when you lose traction on one rear wheel...
For major, major hours it would probably pay you, but not for average use.
Also keep in mind that if you're working in mud, another set of chains is just going to churn up that much more mud and get you hung up sooner...

My cousin runs a Case 95XT for building fence. They put heavy chains on it in the wintertime but still have trouble getting around when it is greasy. The chains help and cost a lot less than tracks.
