CASE SC Oil Filter

I have a case sc that I was told was a 1945, no serial plate. There is no oil filter on the tractor and I do not see where the 4 bolt bracket
for the oil filter assembly would go. Was there ever a SC model that did not have a oil filter? There is a screen in the oil pan. Can anyone let me know? Kelly

If you scrape the bell housing flange to bare metal you should find the tractor serial number, Left hand side of the tractor in the area of the bowl on the the air cleaner where the engine flange curves up around. To determine the year, take the first two numbers and subtract four from them, thats the year. If the SC follows its bigger brother the DC it may have never been equipped with an oil filter. My 39 Dc also has a removable screen in the pan and no external filter. mEl

Case did not start putting filters on in the factory until about 1949 which is a #1080 Napa, however many earlier models had aftermarket Purolator filter kits installed.

I put a filiter on a DC. I put a tee in the line
to the oil pressure gauge, and ran it to a
cannister from a junkyard, off of a 51 chev truck
the element was called a "Military Standard Jr.
(There is also a "Senior" which is bigger)IT may
have been an add on to the truck, the old element
in the cannister was an easy match at NAPA. I ran
the return line from the filter back to a plug
that was on the block. It worked for me.
