Good mechanic

Can anyone here recommend a good tractor mechanic around the Terre Haute, Indiana area?

Non-dealer mechanic, of course, unless a dealer mechanic wants extra work on his own time.

Being a mechanic myself I hear that mechanics in general are getting harder and harder to find...Then your wanting a good one too????? Now if you were looking for a technician of some sort they"re a dime a dozen.... Sorry I don"t know anyone in your neck of the woods... but if you want to bring it to NC I"d be glad to help out.

Good luck finding someone. Just watch the dealership guys nowdays. Around here there are still a few guys at the dealerships that are old school mechanics. The problem is with the highest paid guys getting laid off due to the economy, etc alot of the guys that are left are lucky to even know which end of the tractor is the front....

It seems (to me) that in most all service related fields the entire field of personnel work at least one step above their competence level.

If a mechanic (or whatever) is talented enough to be honest, fair, diligent, and professional in his field, he will come to realize this, and expect to be paid accordingly. At which point he will probably not be compensated accordingly, and move on to a new or more advanced position where he can operate at reduced competence for more pay.
