Old plows hit the dirt

Went to the first plow day of the year yestereday, had... 10 tractors with 24 bottoms. Was a good day, little slick on top in spots but was good for most part. On Friday me, dad, and neighbor went out back and got them shined up. I had my A and 3-14, dad had 820 with 4-16 and neighbor had M with 2-16. The three of us did 12 acres in 2 hours.

Anyone else take part in plowdays??

We have one in west central IL every year, first Sat in Nov. Usually have between 15 and 30 tractors, depending on the weather.

Where in west central IL? I am near Tennessee, IL.

What age tractors, and are there any pull type plows available to borrow? Wouldn't mind giving my 1936 F20 Farmall a workout if I can borrow a plow.

Otherwise, one of my other tractors is a 1975 Ford 5000 diesel row crop, kind of overkill pulling a 2 bottom mounted but would enjoy running it if age allowed. DOUG

Will try to make it Jim - Outside of a little garden plowing now and then, it's been over 30 years since I got to spend that much "quality" seat time!
What do think - Let Doug in with his red trsctor?

our tractor club has several plow days in the spring, including one at my farm. its a lot of fun, putting the old tractors back to work. we get a similar turnout to yours- 10-14 tractors and 25-30 bottoms. this year we turned over about 45 acres.

I am hositng a plow day in southern illinois, shawneetown area on Oct 31. Last year was the first time I hosted one, it just seems like there is no one in southern illinois that does one so i did. Anyone is welcome. It is a lot fo fun to work the old tractors and listen to them do what they were built to do.
