No this is not a truck post. We still havne't had a frost here in east Kentucky, probably will come tomorrow night. The bad thing is I still have 20 to 25 acres of mixed grass hay to cut. Actually looks pretty good considering how late it is. Now the good thing is the sun is suppose to come out tomorrow, and be really nice up until about Thursday. I doubt I can get it all cut tomorrow, but I'm gonna cut as much as I can. Hopefully, with the help of a an old haybine and 3 or 4 passes with a tedder, I'll get this stuff dry and finish a good hay year...
 
Casey, I wish you luck but I don't think it is going to happen. There is a lot of people, including me, here in WNC in the same boat you are. Going to mow Monday and hope to get it up by Wed. I think it is going to be too cold and days too short to cure it. I have 15 acres of beautiful hay that I am just going to silage. It is a shame but I am afraid to take a chance on it curing. It has been the hardest year here that I have ever tried to put up hay. A three day dry window at the most all season long. That is just now enough in mid october. Weather predictions are just as bad now as they were 20 years ago. A lot of guesswork and many times, they guess wrong. If I ever quit hay it won't be because of the lack of profit in it, or even equipment breaking down. It will be because of the stupid weatherman.
 
Well, if it does what the weatherman says. I think its possible. The sun is out here bright and early this morning and they are saying "mostly sunny" up till Thursday. This ground is sandy river bottoms that actually drains quite well. I'm gonna cut today with the haybine roll pressure cranked down tight and put it into narrow windrows. Then start tedding tomorrow evening. Hopefully the ground will be good and dry and the sun does what they say. All we can do is try. No silage balers around...
