Seems like so far Oct. has had more rainy days then dry ones. We have had at least 10 inches in Oct so far and it still has not stopped raining yet

Coldest Oct on record for past 139 years for NE ILL. Third driest Sept on record. First frost killed the green corn/not a gold color sort of a fadded green. Elevator in SE Iowa refusing corn over 20%. The mid west will be looking for rice tires for the combines. Know a 6600 with a good set in the horse weeds. Sort of like the NW for rain.

had rain every day this week, supposed to sprinkle tomorrow, no rain sunday, then rain all next week. beans are still in the field, corn prolly wont come out till christmas .

couldn't agree more, had to bushhog at least 20 acres of what would have been excellent hay, just no way in these temps and rain to have any chance to get it cut and dry.

Last year picked corn (at 14%) during last week of sept. This year have one field at 17% and another at 22% and more rain expected tomorrow

I'm in north central KY

I understand. Its been unusually wet in n. & n.e. Tx. Ground is saturated. Rain finally stopped on Monday. Wed. evening still had water standing in the pasture. That"s never happened in 20 yrs.

Finally got a little sun Thursday afternoon and again this afternoon. Next 4 to 5 days are supposed to be sunny, we could sure use the break.

WGEM Quincy, IL email I get daily confirms this Oct as coldest on record and so far 9th wettest.

My closest National Weather Service reporting office is Burlington, IA. Temp for the month so far is 11.2 degrees below normal.

Today is the 16th. Do the math on moisture. Days with .01 or more=9. .10 or more=6. .50 or more=1.

9 + 6 + 1 = 16. We have had moisture every day this month, just not much at a time. I am tired of it, and think we may be in for a LONG winter. DOUG

Coldest wettest summer any one can remember here. Recornd low high temp here yesterday. Only neigbors I have seen cutting beans here the last two weeks had a dozer setting in the field with them. Never seen them get stuck but they were ready. We have water standing on the hill sides here now. Need some warm air and sun to keep the pastures growing. Corn mudded in April and May is still testing over 20%. Tobacco is covered in mold and has not been out of order since it was cut first week of Sept.

(Oh, and if any one ask Al Gore is full of crap)

Finally saw some sun for 30 minutes this evening. Now the clouds are moving back in with a chance of rain tonight. The fields are so wet that the sun in the forecast Sunday and Monday won't get anyone rolling. More rain Tuesday and Wednesday. Looks like we'll be waiting for a hard freeze to get harvest under way.

Last year it was 80 degrees on my birthday (Oct. 12th) and sunny. This year, I don't think it got above 40, and it kept going between flurries and drizzle. Did finish the corn though.

About an hour from me we got that much in 24 hours. Haven't had a storm like that since about 76 the weather people said. However, since we are about completely dried up, I won't complain.

Today was nicer, 75 during the day and sunny. Got to love CA.

It's awful wet down here in Wright Co., too. I've been hauling and spreading manure/bedding and compost out to the gardens all week. The forecast is for a little dry weather over the next handful of days and I hope it dries enough for me to get it tilled in. I've seen falls when it rained for two months. I hope this isn't one of them.

By the way, our first frost will be tonight. More than ten days later than we usually get on our farm.

Good luck with the weather.

Christopher

Ya there calling for frost up here in Camden county also but I'll not believe it till I see it. Weather man said no rain yesterday and it rained and today he said rain and the sun is out. Guess they got there days mixed up

I think they've got a special weatherman school somewhere in Missouri where they learn how to make mistakes and still act like they know what they're talking about.
