here is the next little project i got going. 40 allis b. fresh back from the sandblaster. (customer wanted it blasted) will post more pics as the paintin progresses.

I think the same way when I see any of these older rigs with out their sheet metal on.

They sure did a lot of work back in the day though.

Doing a little reading the other day and came across the term "white metal" as related to sand blasting.

What does sand blasting to "white metal" mean?

This joint standard covers the requirements for white metal blast cleaning of uncoated or coated steel surfaces by the use of abrasives. These requirements include the end condition of the surface and materials and procedures necessary to achieve and verify the end condition.

A white metal blast cleaned surface, when viewed without magnification, shall be free of all visible oil, grease, dust, dirt, mill scale, rust, coating, oxides, corrosion products, and other foreign matter.

Correct me if I am wrong, I have always thought that older engines, transmissions, final drives, and even wheel bearings breathed. Is it possible that some of the dust from the sand blasting migrated into these areas? Could be problems in the future, if this is true.
