O.K., lets try this one..96 4wd F350 7.3...2 part question

I've found a 1996 F-350, regular cab, 4wd, custom flat bed, 7.3 powerstroke with 48,600 miles. It was a corporate/fleet truck that hasn't had many miles put on it for whatever reason. The bad thing is it's an automatic. The guy is asking $9995, but I'm sure he'll come down some, probably at least $9000. Now I'm no fan fan of automatics, but this seems like a good deal. Opinions??

2nd question is if that auto turns into scrap a few miles down the road, is it feasible to drop a manual tranny in it?? Or is that way to complex??
