OT-gas grill

Just got a new gas grill with stainless steel grates and I was looking for any tips or advice from you guys with more experience. For instance do I need to "season" the grates or coat them with oil before we us it the first time? I appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks

I've always figured that no matter what I do the first couple of times I cook on a new grill the food has no taste. Once the grill gets a nice coating of soot and burned on baked on grease then stuff cooks and tastes right.

I finally put an old cast iron griddle in mine. Things don't flame up because your drippings are not on the open flame. Stuff cooks alittle slower, and with indirect heat. Works real nice for me. Greg

I just spray it lightly with some Pam type stuff. IF your grill is really stainless, it won't need seasoning. By that I mean it can't be seasoned-no pores like cast iron has.
