In responce to a previous post about pumpkins, Peoria(IL)Journal Star paper (pjstar.com) reports that 80% of the canned pumkin comsumed in the nation is processed at Libby's plant in Morton, Illinois.
As a 35 year subscriber however, I know they don't always get the most "accurate" facts!

Oh yeah, meant to mention that they will probably be using those "push" tractors for the rest of the harvest.

You are right about the accuaracy of the journal star. I would be willing to bet they saw that 80% of the pumpkins were grown here and they are totally unaware of the cannery in princeville. Either way, if someone has a can of pumkin pie filling in their kitchen cabinet it probably came from central IL.

For the last month it was hard to find a can of pumpkin in any store here in Iowa.

Start shipping this way.

We are out.

Just north of Princeville, another three tenths in the guage!! Thank the Lord we didn't get what southern IL got. Yup, push tractors and muddy roads. Went to local CaseIH dealer in Pville yesterday, punkin haulers everwhere.
