GMC truck question

I have a GMC Sierra 1500, I have lost the first three speeds on my heat/AC blower fan. does anybody know a good pickup truck forums? I"ve looked around a little and left posts on a few of those but no replys? any help would be great. thanks Digger

What year?

If newer than '94, it's common for the fan switch and connector in the control "head" to overheat/fail/burn.

Other years have problems with the resistor block in the air plenum.

if it is a late model, go to the heater blower located just under the glove box. check the wiring harness where it plugs into the blower motor. if the harness is melted, gm sells a retro repair kit for that. you made need to replace a small relay box located just up the wiring harness from the blower motor plug too.

Blower motor resistor located by the blower motor. Either 89019088 or 89019089 depending on your vin no. Bothare around $62 of $63 dollars.

CHESTER is right. blower resistor. i would also check the connector. maybe melted, # 15862656. david

I just had the same problem in my 2006 Silverado 2500. I had the melted harness and bad resistor. Quick and easy job. My biggest complaint was the harness and the resistor was made in, and I sh*t you not, Kazackistan(sp??), and I noticed the blower motor was made in Mexico. I wonder how many languages these trucks really speak??

Very common, the resistor is it. I think it has something to do with all the heat that collects in the console. If the heat is on, the dash is blazing hot.

It's hurt my radio too, can't stayed tuned into stereo mode.
