At sometime during the last year I read a post concering the proper paint for the aluminum colored rear wheels (rims) for a Ford (and others) tractor. It contained info on what this paint was/is and were to purchase it. I am (my FFA Chapter) is restoring a 130 IH and want to do it properly. We are at the point of working on the wheels. Hope someone can remember what I can't.

The most commomly used paint for the rims is simply called "aluminum paint". It comes in pints, quarts, or gallon cans and also aerosol cans. It can be purchased at just about any farm supply or home improvement type store. Aluminum paint is what most of use.

I have used the IH silver or argent from Case IH. Its not too silver and not too gray. After all, they're not supposed to look chromed, more like galvanized.

Aluminum paint works. There's a paint available through Massey Ferguson dealers called "silver mist" that I like. Rustoleum has several spray colors that immitate galvanized finish really well.

you can get cad plat paint.. but it's spendy.. many of us just use the aluminum paint.. turns out pretty good.

eastwood is one of the more well known suppliers.

stuff ain't cheap though.. I suggest using a good rust controling light grey primer.. perhaps a rustoleum product.. this will help prevent corrosion.. plus let you stretch the cad paint so you don't have to buy too much.. perhaps 3 cans to do both front / back rims.. depending on size..
