Anybody got some quick ideas on how to fix a broken straw-walker in a 510 massey? Last time we did it it went like this:
1. Remove chopper.
2. Remove whole rear outer shell.
3. Remove sieves.
4. Remove upper grain pan.
5. Remove broken straw walker.
then replace the straw walker, and reverse all above steps to reassemble machine. Took us -- several days -- last time. Dad is estimating a week in repairs.

There has to be a quicker way! Any ideas? Thanks!

I have replaced them in a 750. Not sure why you took the rear hood off. You should be able to work them around and get them out of the door on the top of the straw walkers. Is it broke in 2 pieces or just needs a patch? Seives out, pan under the walkers out, and you should be able to get the walker off and out. Never had to change one in a 510, but I think you went to more trouble than you need to. Chris

With the rear hood off , Us Claustraphobic Guys have more breathing room , And You Can see so much Better ,,, Never did a 510,, Changed the grain pan in a 300, And we thought about removing the dozen bolts that holds the hood on , for easier accessability. But tuffed it Out ..But I would bet that this repair can be done without removing hood ... But Comfort means a lot ..

On a 815 IH we could go out a panel on top.

Piece of plywood on top of the seives. 2 hour job.
