OT Must be living right.

The other morning I got up and followed my usual routine, walked out, looked at barnyard and YIKES the main gate that connects both my cattle pens to the outside world was wide open. I nearly panicked, but quickly took a count and all the cows were contentedly laying there chewing their cud. Checked the gate and the chain clip that locks the gates was actually broken. Dont know what broke it and it was fairly stout, but all the girls were home. Let out little sigh of relief there. Told momma it was good clean livin that kept em in and she looked at me and laughed, right in my face. Maybe she knows me too well. :>)

My neighbor that just passed in July would always say "If you've got good pasture, you don't need a good fence."

He had both good pastures and good fences.

No doubt you take care of your livestock and they know it.

Now all you have to do is figure out which one is breaking the latch!

Yes, Ol' Gertrude is the old pet cow, not a bit of harm in her, but always the one that pushes through the fence..

Ada was in Hoard's Dairyman, wasn't she? Remember my dad laughing because her antics were so typical of ayrshires- we had a couple, and they were pretty zany. Hadn't thought of that in years- thanks.

nope that would melody she can get out of anything on the farm. she have busted up more stuff than i care to think about, but she raises a heifer calf every 12 months so it ain't all bad.
she should make the Highland cattle impact list this year.

My parents got "Michigan Farmer" for years - Always laughed when they looked at Ada the Alshire cartoon.
