Does the letters on the axel housing of a ford 8n tell what month & year the tractor was made?
I know the serial number is on the block, but I think the motor has been changed out.

Thanks: Fred

N-Ford Board fellers would know better info, but I believe, lacking a serial no,the axle housing casting numbers would indicate the casting date, not the build date....also check the radiator tag for a date.

There are a few numbers on parts that tell when they where cast but that is about as close as it gets. You can narrow it down a little bit by the distributor if front mount it is a 1947 to early 1950 if side mount then late 50 to 52 but of course if the engine was switched that only tells you what the engine year is. Very common to have engines switched in them
