Overhaul parts for my 560D

I have my IH Farmall 560 diesel I bought in April. Well after getting it retimed and a new head gasket it starts with just a little pull, but the fact I still have to pull-start it means there's room for improvement.

I still have to get the crop out and will likely sell some straight out of the field but I am thinking about new sleeves and pistons. In short I think I may be ready for the overhaul.

Local IH dealer wants $1600 for the parts. That sounds a bit much to me. Where do you get your parts? I want to shop around a bit.

Yeah actually I replaced all the glow plugs, that's one of the reasons it starts as quick as it does when I pull it. Otherwise it would be a 1/4 mile tug!

I had it apart and saw those pistons and I know I could stuff a notebook cover between the piston and the sleeve. I'm surprised it runs on all 6 considering the gaps it has. I knew it had a lack of power when it came home but that turned out to be partly because of the injector pump being timed way fast. about 35 degrees fast. And she really rattled too! Previous owner couldn't keep head gaskets in it.

I would do a compression test first to make sure that's your problem. Do a dry compression test and a wet compression test. See if they are both low. If both are low, you have a head problem. If the wet compression test brings up your compression a good big, you have worn out rings/pistons/sleeves.
