Alert to Pheasants -I'M coming to Iowa to Harvest

Wife and I are flying out of Seattle early next Thursday a.m to Des Moines and should be in the tractor or combine by 6 p.m. Need to get back in the harvest to scratch the itch I can really never seem to get rid of. Will help brother and dad harvest about 600 acres in 10 days if all goes well and it is dry enough. If not dry then the pheasants need to be extra alert. Gonna be a good time I'm sure and may even look around for a few old Farmalls while there. Guess my cousin and nephew have put together some I might try to look at. Or may travel up to see Ia Gary to see if he is behaving. Later I'll wave to Allan in Neb and a few others as we fly over. Migraine

Do they have Pheasants in Iowa????? Thought we in Kansas,Oklahoma,Nebraska, & Colorado had the Pheasants.
Our season doesn't open til november.

I see about 20 deer for every pheasant I see in south central iowa.

Hope it is dry where you are going to harvest. Had 4+ inches this last week in SE Iowa.

Was going to harvest beans first of the week but not now.

Pheasant population is way down . We hunt se iowa, What cheer , Thornburg , New Sharon . usually limit out sat by noon ,last year never came close all weekend. NW iowa is where all the birds are they say . Might have to knock on some doors up that way . Got new dog and wanna get her on some birds .

You do know that Pheasant season doesn't open until the last weekend in Oct.

Pheasants in Pa especially Armstrong county are stocked by the game commission. In my younger years they were plentiful. and in their natural habitat. If you want one drive around the day before season . You can pick them up cause they are standing where they were left off waiting for the truck to come back and feed them.

Some blame it on the farmers that poisoned their seed , I think that's not all true, Game commission has also stocked coyote along with our Fox population. not many fur trappers anymore.

Rabbit population is slowly climbing. Although we are experiencing a few nesting Eagles [8 pair in 30 mile radius that I know of ].

Havn't seen a ruffed grouse in ten years. {Our state bird}

Been word of a couple Bob Cats in the area also.
