beans late afternoon. They ripened real funny this year, must be because of the cool season we had. Top half of plant is dry and bottom half is green with many green leaves still on. But the pods are ripe and dry all the way down. No way would you think the beans could be dry enough but they tested at 12.7% so I kept going. Man does it take power to get those green plants through machine though. The old 750 has her hands full at about 2 mph. with a 15 ft. platform. Will weigh some tomorrow but they look to be going about 45 bpa. Not bad for as dry a summer as we had here in so. central Mn. Well got to get some sleep so I can stay awake tomorrow in that combine. See you later.

Have taken a short nap in a combine lots of time; long days, cool weather, afternoon sun shining through cab windows, the noise, the vibration, etc. When I'd get so sleepy that I couldn't stay awake, just kick the separator out of gear, put my head back and drift off; 5 or 10 minutes later, would be ready to go again. Couldn't do it if anyone else was in field; they'd be checking on you........

South Central MN? 750? Are you a Massey operator?

We've had the 510 in the field last couple days. Elevator tested a sample at 11.8. Stems are green, pods are dry, leaves are off but the stems are extra tough to cut if you cut in the bottom 4 inches. Some beans are a little small but we're not cracking near as many as in other years. Praise God, yields are better than we've ever seen on the field we're working in.

Really looking forward to the field that usually produces better that got diagonal cross planted. Sprayed for aphids first time ever this year.

NW Iowa here. Calhoun County.

Yep. 750 Massey. Has the 354 Perkins. Good engine and usually more than enough power but these green plants are really putting it to the test like never before. Been raining all morning. Nice rain and badly needed but will keep me out of beans for a few days. Thats all right, plenty of time yet this fall.
