recently converted to 12-volt system, new distributor front mount, cleaned carb and refurbed, cleaned govenor. Tractor starts great and runs for several hours, then just stops, like dead battery. Wait 20 or so min, starts up and runs again.

WHY???

With no more info. than you gave??? Did you put a new coil for 12V OR put a resistor before your 6V coil? Sounds like coil may be getting hot from too much voltage.

Coil maybe getting and over voltage problem and is slowly going bad on you. Those front mount coils will not take ANY over voltage for very long before they start to brake down and go bad

The best thing one can do to a front mount is convert it to a external round can coil and do away with the original P.O.S. coil,,, the original was not one of Fords better ideas. If you do not have the ability to gut a coil you can just drill thu one and soilder the wires to the base of a old coils leads.
