'01 Dodge 1500 help!

Trailered a small tractor 40 miles with O/D locked
out. Now it won't take overdrive. It seems
not to shift down to low on take off. What is
wrong? Thanks for any help.

trans temp light ever come on?

hows the fluid level?

can you manually shift up thru the gears?

No temp light ever came on. Fluid is full and
appears normal. It shifts 2nd to 3rd normal.
Just have to start in low. It has 82,000 normal
usage miles. I have driven Dodge trucks since
1958 with no major problems. There was no warning
signs of a problem.

any problem with the throttle sticking, or what feels like a hiccup in acceleration.. or a cruise control problem?

I have a TPS going out that would give me funny symptoms I thought were trans related.

Sounds like you lost power on the trans control relay. If I remember correctly, you can manually shift to low and get 1st gear. There is a fuse in the under hood fuse box, also a relay. Seems like it is a solid red wire going down to the trans connector that comes from the relay. All it takes is a corroded/broken wire, or a backed out terminal in a connector to cause all sorts of odd behavior.

Check the electrical connectors and wiring where they attach to the transmission. You run thru any brush or anything?
If it's not going into 1st, it sounds like you could be in "limp home mode". I had that happen on my 96. I ended up putting a new ECM in it. Not cheap...but it fixed the problem.
It does not sound like a TPS.
Hope you did not pop a gastet on the valve body...
