OT. 94 honda accord brakes

One of my friends showed up at my place Sunday with his 94 accord and new front brake pads and rotors. He did not have a manual and I could not get the rotors off. They seem to bolt to the hub and the only thing I could figure was that the 4 bolts on the back of the hub let the assembly come off so the rotor could come off but I couldn't get to the bolts with the axle shafts in the way.He is going to take it to a shop, but now I am curious as to how they come apart. Have any of you guys done this style of rotors? Thanks alot,

Mike.

Mike,
I did my 96 civic several times. It was a very straight forward procedure.
One thing I wanted to mention..... I am not much of a dealer (honda) person. BUT, I did end up returning the 'premium' disc pads to the local parts house and paying the pri$e for the OEM pads! They outperformed amazingly!

There are online (free) repair manuals for this honda too.

the bolts on the back side are for the wheel bearing hub assby. Their should be 2 little screws in between the wheel lugs on the front side. I run a auto repair shop and have done a few of them.

Some Hondas have captive rotors. You have to disassemble the wheel bearing and then unbolt the rotors. If you want to machine them, you have to use an on-car brake lathe. Most of the time you can just replace the pads as long as the rotors arn't warped. Some of the new pad compositions are very hard on rotors. Sometimes euro cars need new rotors every time the pads are changed.

Thanks a lot guys, I did not see any phillips screws on the front side but there were four bolts holding the rotor to the hub screwed in from the front. When I loosened those bolts the rotor came loose but would not get past the hub. The 4 bolts in back under the cv joint must be the ones that hold the assembly in. If you take those bolts out will the assembly just slid out and the rotor slide off of the back of it?
Thanks again,
Mike

ted regentin has it right.

The correct procedure is to remove the entire knuckle assy, then remove the four flange bolts, then separate the hub unit from the brake disc.
