Why is it that you can't get the 6 speed transmission with the extended cab WT truck but you can get it in the crew cab WT truck. I don't want the crew cab cause your not supposed to haul fifth wheel with it but I would like the six speed. Why would they do that? You can get it if you spend extra on the SLE. Guess GM is still screwed up.

Who told you that you cant haul a 5th wheel with that truck?

I'm a hitch installer and a 5th wheel can be put in a 2009 GMC crew cab. Already done a few at my shop.

Sorry: but you are wrong about not being able to pull a 5th wheel with a cres cab. a short bed crew cab has an issue with the 5th wheel granted but a rolling 5th wheel solves the problem of cab contact with trailer front on turns.Crew cabs with long beds present no problems as my crew cab long bed has been in many states and two other countrys pulling our Jayco RK 3430 5th wheel.I don't know why the 6 speed is not available for your truck,seems if it was available for one model why not the rest of them? Pic is of our 5th wheel toter,oldie but a goodie.

The fifth wheel problem is Chevy/GMC 1500 crew cab specific. I read that IN THEIR brochure. It said 1/2 ton crew cab models aren't supposed to pull fifth wheel. Box length problems. You cannot get it in the right spot above the axle. I have seen it done too but the centre of the hitch was about 5 inches behind the axle.
